This does not look good at all, specially at a time The Right Hon President, Mr. Mahinda Rajapakse is requesting the educated Sri Lankan ex-patriots to return to Sri Lanka. We (seven of us) very senior highly qualified team of Engineers/Managers/ Directors are looking into investing on a very large project in Sri Lanka. With this type of poor practices there are several questions being thrown into our project plan. I am very concerned to know how many Sri Lankans such as us lot are thinking of stepping back rather than getting forwardly integrated. It’s a shame. The top Sri Lanka politicians need to understand that investors like us will look away when we see such stories in the news. I strongly feel president would not tolerates such nonsense and would take suitable steps to sack the foreign minister, where by if this happened in another country the ruling party would have taken legal action against such fraudsters.

I am not a fan of the FM. But, for Sri Lankans 4.5 millions is a lot, but when you convert it into Us $, it's just $ 45,000. A low profile wedding with 200 guests costs over $ 30,000 in the USA. In Sri Lanka you can do two lavish weddings with Rs. 3 million.
For 25 foreign trips he has used less than $100,000 which is equivalent to Rs. 10 million, so it's $ 4,000 per trip. (Rs. 1mil is less than $ 10,000 )
When my family visit Sri Lanka from USA,it takes around $ 4000 each time,...it's for just two people. A minister can't travel alone, he needs his secretary and other staff....
Compared to the prices of other countries, this is not a big deal,...

When there are millons of hungers, vitims of war and rest of who are squeezing rocket speeding price at daily meals and young people suffered through lack of jobs at the front of the door, how politicians could selfishly celebrte there own by publick money? I remeber "Hunuwataye Kathawa" George and Nataliya Ahashvillie had a supper luxery life when there were plenty of hungers at front of the palace.

If true, this is outrageous. I live in the U.K. but a staggering $25,000 to a photographer is insane even if the event takes place in the moon. This must be incorrect reporting. If it is responsible journalism, GOSL should not pay one cent towards this. As a private citizen the foreign minister's daughter could spend any amount to have a birthday bash. No one can argue that. But no, definitely no of the minister wants our Sri Lanka Embassy in Washington DC to foot the bill. good report but please correct the reference to American Embassy. It should be Sri Lankan embassy in Washington DC not American Embassy in Colombo.
