Dying Tamil youth donates his kidneys to give life to two Sinhalese youths

The kidneys of a Tamil youth whose brain had been dead after a motor accident have been transplanted to two Sinhalese youths by surgeons at Kandy Hospital. The two kidneys were transplanted to the Sinhalese youths on a request by the mother of the Tamil youth who had made this request with the consent of her dying son.

Yogendran, the Tamil youth who had been admitted to Kandy hospital after a motor accident, knowing that he would not be able to live any longer, had expressed his willingness to donate organs in his body to save lives of two Sinhalese youths. He has got his mother’s consent as well. The two Sinhalese youths who received Yogendran’s kidneys are in good health say hospital sources.

The transplanting surgery was performed by Surgeon P.K. Harischandra of the Kidney Transplant Unit of the Kandy hospital who said the actions of the Tamil youth and his mother were an excellent example for national unity.

As we know we need to respect all the tamils as equal as sinhalese. We should ask our government to publish all the arrested cadres as soon as possible.

This is a wonderfull gesture .We pray for Yogendran and his famaly especially his mother. As a Sinhalese I have to mention that this gesture from a Tamil is very deeply and respectfully appreciated.
It is high time the Sinhala Budhists changed there view of non Budhist minorities who are as Sri Lankan as any of them.

Irresepective of Race or religon we love Sri LAnka.

Time to work for one nation one Sri Lanka.

By the way, I wonder how many MPs have sent letters to the authorities,
giving permission for their organs to be transplanted at time of death.

This would be agreat start for a very worthy cause. Hey President get on to it.

We Sinhalese Buddhists being the majority should set examples. We hear about good deeds by the minorities towards the majority. We hear about religious leaders offering dana to maha sanga, Tamil parent offering kidneys of her son to two sinhalese boys. For real unity we Sinhalese Buddhists have to feel the same way for minorities.
