Dying Tamil youth donates his kidneys to give life to two Sinhalese youths |

The kidneys of a Tamil youth whose brain had been dead after a motor accident have been transplanted to two Sinhalese youths by surgeons at Kandy Hospital. The two kidneys were transplanted to the Sinhalese youths on a request by the mother of the Tamil youth who had made this request with the consent of her dying son.
Yogendran, the Tamil youth who had been admitted to Kandy hospital after a motor accident, knowing that he would not be able to live any longer, had expressed his willingness to donate organs in his body to save lives of two Sinhalese youths. He has got his mother’s consent as well. The two Sinhalese youths who received Yogendran’s kidneys are in good health say hospital sources.
The transplanting surgery was performed by Surgeon P.K. Harischandra of the Kidney Transplant Unit of the Kandy hospital who said the actions of the Tamil youth and his mother were an excellent example for national unity.
