Chandrika's security personnel granted bail

The Chief of the Security Unit of Former President Mrs. Chandrika Bandaranayaka Kumaratunga SSP Nihal Sisira Kumara Karunarathna who submitted an appeal against 4 year imprisonment and the fine of Rs. 10000 imposed by Provincial High Court Kandy following death threats to H.Q.I Hanguranketha Gunerathna Banda was ordered to be released from above penalty by Provincial High Court Kandy yesterday (28) under a cash bail of Rs.100000 and two personal bails of Rs.200000 each.

The High Court Judge Kandy Preethipadman Soorasena on 29th June sentenced the SSP to a 4 year rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs.10000 regarding for threatening with death H.Q.I Hanguranketha Mr Gunarathna Banda.

After considering the appeal against the above penalty submitted by the defense which counsels including Presidents Counselor Anil de Silva, Attorneys -At-Law Nimal Suraweera and Jeewani Herath under the instructions of Attorney-At-Law Manjula Rathnayaka High Court Judge Mr.Preethipathman Soorasena decided to release the accused on bail.
