Cyclone heading to India

According to an Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) bulletin the deep depression over southwest Bay of Bengal that lay centered at about 500 km south-southeast of Chennai and 130 km east-northeast of Trincomalee would intensify into a cyclonic storm and cross north Tamil Nadu and adjoining south Andhra Pradesh coast between Nagapattinam and Nellore by Wednesday evening.

Heavy rains are expected in the region. Schools and colleges are closed in Chennai on Wednesday.  Fishermen in Nagapattinam, Chennai and Puducherry have been asked not to venture into the sea.
