Berty’s henchman arrested

Sarath Weerasinghe, UPFA Member for Madhya Nuwragampalatha Pradeshiya Sabha and a strong supporter of former chief minister for North Central Province Berty Premalal Dissanayake has been taken into custody.

The arrest has been made on an order from DIG Anuradhapura on a complaint made by Special Site Manageress of Anuradhapura Archeology Ms. Priyanka Amarasinghe. She has complained that the suspect was constructing two unauthorized buildings for shops within the archeological reserve opposite Ashokarama Vidyalaya at Periyankulama in Anuradhapura.

The suspect was a former vice-chairman of Madhya Nuwragampalatha Pradeshiya Sabha and is the President of the Anuradhapura alliance of UPFA local government councilors. He convened a media conference when Mr. Berty Premalal Dissasnayake was denied the post of chief minister and stated that he and all the members of the alliance would resign if Berty Premalal Dissanayake is not made the chief minister.
