Doctors to strike tomorrow

The doctors in government hospitals will launch a 24-hour countrywide strike from 8.00 a.m. tomorrow (25th) states the GMOA .

Hospital services including the OPD units and other services would not function tomorrow. However, emergency services would continue as usual. The strike action would not affect Lady Ridgeway Children’s Hospital, Cancer Hospital at Maharagama, Castle Street and De Soysa hospitals for women.

GMOA sources said the strike was launched because the government had failed to increase the basic salaries and special allowances of doctors and had not provided a special transport allowance enjoyed by other state sector employees.

Meanwhile, the Secretary to the Ministry of Finance Dr. D.B. Jayasundara has announced that a discussion would be held with representatives of GMOA tomorrow morning.

You all enjoy duty free vehicles but not other state employees? state employees enjoy transport alloance? Who said this bullshit? Only some of them. Doctors go overseas using public funds but never return? They finish work in Govt. Hospitals quickly and earn more money else where. Other state employees cannot do this??? Asking more money?? Beg on the street!
