President proposes to give 8 acres from Slave Island to India

Cabinet approval has been given on a proposal by the President to hand over 8 acres from Slave Island to India. This was stated by the Minister of Information and Mass Media Keheliya Rambukwella at a media meeting held today (19th) to inform cabinet decisions.

The Minister has further said the cabinet approved the proposal made by the President as the Minister of Defense and Urban Development.

Cabinet has approved to give on 99 year lease lands at Slave Island that had been reserved for development to India’s Tata Housing Development Company Ltd and its partner in Sri Lanka SG 18 Advertisers and Consultant Pvt. Ltd.

The land of eight acres bordering Malay Street, Justice Akbar Street and a railway track  will be on a 99 year lease and used for a mixed development consisting of commercial areas and complexes of luxury houses.

Neutral analysts say the government of Sri Lanka has knelt before India and is handing over various institutions, natural resources, nature reserves as well as valuable lands in Colombo and other areas.

Our President is mad enough to give lands to another foreign country. He has no idea whatsoever to utilise the local talent and the resources and all above let the country remains dependent.

Before this matter goes out of control someone like Mervin Silva caryout a protest outside the Parliament to land grabbing.
