The government cannot avoid the issues of the attack on the Secretary to the Judiciary Service Commission by coming out with various stories of conspiracies states Ven. Prof. Bellanwila Wimalaratana Thera.
Making a statement to the media Ven. Wimalaratana Thera says, “Many more things could happen if this incident is treated as an insignificant one. The people in a country could expect justice only if the independence of the Judiciary exists in that country. The government cannot keep quite saying the incident is an act created to bring a rift between the judiciary and the executive.
The police have the ability to hold independent investigations and find out who committed the crime and who were behind it. People expect the perpetrators, whoever they are or what positions they hold, to be brought before the law.”
