Asst. Secretary to National Education Commission speaks on education

A special clarification has been made regarding the state education in Sri Lanka has fallen to by the Asst. Secretary of the National Education Commission S.M.A. de Alwis.

At a ceremony held in Matara recently Mr. Alwis had said, “If we admit 100 children to grade one now only two of them enter university in 13 years. 98 others have to be in the job queue. Are the 2% who enter university contented? They come out of the university after three years with a board in their hands asking for employment. If this is the result what use is the education in this country today? The education we have in the country is one that injects frustration and that sows opportunism and hypocrisy.”
