Iran could launch a pre-emptive strike on Israel if it was sure the Jewish state was preparing to attack it, Brig. Gen. Amir Ali Hajizadeh was quoted as saying today (23rd). He made the comments to Iran's state-run Arabic language Al-Alam television.
He has said, "Iran will not start any war but it could launch a pre-emptive attack if it was sure that the enemies are putting the final touches to attack it." He said any attack on Iranian soil could trigger "World War Three."
Hajizadeh, who is in charge of Revolutionary Guards missile systems added that Iran would deem any Israeli strike to be conducted with US authorization, so "whether the Zionist regime attacks with or without US knowledge, then we will definitely attack US bases in Bahrain, Qatar and Afghanistan." He warned that Israel "cannot imagine our response -- and it will sustain heavy damage and that will be a prelude to its obliteration."
He has said war between Iran and Israel "will eventually happen, but it is not certain where and when. f they begin the aggression, it will spell their destruction and will be the annihilation of Israel," he added.
