Poor shot selection ruins Spirited Afghans

Despite Afghanistan’s spirited display at the second T-20 played at at R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo today (19th) India had the day due to poor catching and poor shot selection of Afghans. Put into bat India scored 159 for 5 wickets Virat Kohli scoring a half century and Raina contributing with 38 not out. India had jitters earlier when both Gambhir and Sehwag were back in pavilion for 22 and Yuvraj out at 68.

Afghans had a good start first wicket falling at 26, the second at 52 and the third at 75. However poor shot selection saw Afghans getting out for 136. India won by 23 runs.

Kohli was the man of the match.

In the match played earlier between Australia and Ireland Shane Watson single handedly ruined Ireland getting 3 wickets for 26 and scoring 51.

Scores – Ireland 123 for 7 in 20 overs while Australia scored 125 in 15.1 overs. Australia won by 7 wickets.
