The UPFA and the UNP are carrying out illegal election propaganda violating election laws states Campaign for Free and Fair Elections (CaFFE). Its Executive Director Keerthi Tennakoon has already complained regarding this to the Commissioner of Elections.

Both these parties are carrying out illegal election campaigns since the announcement of provincial council elections in all three provinces. However, CaFFE has drawn the attention of the Commissioner of Elections only to illegal activities of the two parties in Anuradhapura District.

According to the complaint by CaFFE illegal propaganda carried out using public address systems has increased.

Ranjith (vehicle No. P.Q. 3940), Janak Adhikary (vehicle No. L.B. 3665) and UNP candidate Attorney Abeysinghe (vehicle No. 58-1670).

Despite there were a large number of police officers from police stations at Kekirawa, Thirippane, Mihinthale and Anuradhapura engaged in patrol duties, none of them took any measures to stop the vehicles.

Also vehicles displaying preference numbers of Berty Premalal Dissanayake and S.M. Ranjith were seen engaged in illegal propaganda at Medavachchiya and Horowpathana areas today (28th) between 8.00 a.m. and 9.00 a.m.
