The Managing Director of Ceylon Petroleum Corporation Susanthe Silva ahs said the stock of diesel would be unloaded after intensive tests.
When there were reports that substandard diesel was in the market authorities of CPC denied it and all tests carried out had shown the diesel was of correct standard.
However, later it was established that cranes in the port, trains buses and many vehicles everywhere in the island stalled due to substandard diesel. The Minister as well as CPC then had to accept substandard diesel had been imported. Analysts have said whatever tests are being carried out there is no guarantee the diesel imported from eh same company would be different.
