Woman protests on a water tank

A 42 year old mother of two who had climbed on to a 60 foot water tank and carried out a fast to get her demands fulfilled has ended her fast after winning all her demands.

Samantha Nandani, a resident of Medirigiriya climbed on to the water tank yesterday (1st) at 6.00 a.m. protesting against the failure of Medirigiriya Police to investigate a complaint she had made regarding a sexual abuse on her by a ‘Grama Sevaka’ officer in the area.

The Assistant Superintendent of Police in charge of Habarana area M.R.P. Sarathprema who had come to the scene at 10.00 a.m. had a conversation with her via the mobile phone and promised that the relevant Grama Sevaka would be arrested and taken before court.

Her complaint to the Medirigiriya Police had been that when she went to Grama Sevaka’s office to get her elder son, who is attached to SL Army, registered as a voter the Grama Sevaka made an improper suggestion and attempted to molest her.

Srilanka was a paradise then,all the good things about our land is parallised now.

No law, no judgement, corrupted political system, corrupted administration.

Do we need another Prabaharan to reform the sysytem
