The dispute between the theoretician of Wanni tigers and political wing leader has turned into worse according to intelligence revelations of the security forces. They expose that an unfriendly conversation has taken place over the telephone between the two recently.

The reason for the latest developments between Mr Anton Balasingham and Thamil Selvam is on talks scheduled to be held in Geneva. It is reported that Wanni tiger leader Prabhakaran has pointed out that Geneva talks could be performed in Tamil as a Tamil speaking representative is participating on behalf of the Government. If it is so, the leader has advised Thamil Selvam that he could play a vital role as the leader of the team.

Mr Balasingham who came to know about this proposal has telephoned Thamil Selvam where aggravating dialogue had taken place. Mr Balasingham has mentioned that he is the more experienced theoretician at discussions and that he be appointed as the leader at the talks to achieve the objectives of the Wanni tigers. Thamil Selvam has replied that this decision has been taken by their leader and that Prabhakaran is not pleased with Mr Balasingham’s disposition.

There were accusations on Mr Balasingham while in Thailand for talks in the past that he had visited the prostitutes and spent a luxurious life during his stay. It was also reported that when the Japanese government refused to pay his expensive hotel bill it was Norway special envoy Mr Erik Soleheim who settled his hotel bill. Thamil Selvam had accused him on his luxurious life style. According to intelligence reports, Thamil Selvam had threatened him with death and this dispute was resolved by Prabhakaran.

Although Mr Balansingham was the spokesman at the beginning of the Cease Fire Agreement, Prabhakaran had taken steps to transfer this position to Thamil Selvam gradually. Sometimes he had even been isolated. It is learnt that these facts have worsened the situation. According to intelligence sources, this dispute between the two may affect the Geneva talks as well.
