Alternative to A-9 road!

[04th November 2006 - 15:35 S.L.T]

Government sources say that they are planning to open an alternative road to north in place of A9 road soon. In view of that they disclosed that senior members of the govt. are engaged in a discussion with Tigers thorough Norwegians to get their consent for the project.

This A9 road was closed as a result of heavy attacks by tigers on Muhamalai recently. Now the alternative used by the Govt. for all their transportation of supplies of essential goods to the North is by sea. Tigers have done some actions to destabilize this route by threatening ICRC not to involve in supporting this.

Now according to the govt. sources once discussions get through with the tigers through Norway the President Mahinda Rajapakse will give a direction in consultation with the Army to open another road to the North.
