A person
with a large haul of powerful explosives was apprehended
near Sinnamale railway tunnel at Hatton. After interrogating
him two other persons too have been taken into custody. The
weight of the apprehended explosives is about 500 grams and
they have been sent to Government Analyst's Department.
It has
been revealed that these suspects have connections with the
weapons and explosives found on an earlier occasion at
Thalawakele. Intelligence units of security forces on
several occasions had revealed that tiger organization had
infiltrated the estate sector The police say they suspect
that the three arrested persons have had close connections
with the tiger organization.
Security
forces have been able to quell several plans of the tiger
organization to transport arms to the estate sector and give
training to youths from the estates in Vanni. A senior
police officer speaking to 'Lankatruth' said from the
reports reached by the intelligence units of security forces
it would be necessary to carry out a thorough search
operation in the estate sector.
