Legal action taken against former Chairman of NSB

The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (Bribery Commission) has taken legal action against the former Chairman of National Savings Bank Pradeep Kariyawasam.

He has been charged regarding an alleged irregularity said to have occurred when buying shares of The Finance Pvt. Ltd. by the National Savings Bank.

When the case regarding the ‘Divi Neguma Bill’ was heard in Supreme Court former Chairman of NSB Pradeep Kariyawasam was called before the Bribery Commission and when the case was called again he was called to the Parliament.

There was much talk regarding this in political circles and a judgment regarding another case in connection with ‘Divi Neguma Bill is to be delivered on the 30th.

Mr. Pradeep Kariaywsam is the husband of Chief Justice Ms. Shirani Bandaranayake.
