‘Pabha’ warranted

Gampaha District Parliamentarian Upeksha Swarnamali (Pabha) has been warranted. Nugegoda Additional District Judge Ajith S. Masinghe made the order yesterday (11th).

When the case filed by Ms. Swarnamali accusing her husband of assaulting her was called yesterday both Ms. Swarnamali and her husband Mahesh Chaminda were not present in Court.

The lawyers of the two parties were to inform court yesterday whether they would come to a settlement or proceed with the case. As both petitioner and the accused were not present the magistrate issued warrants against both of them.

Ms. Swarnamali contested Gampaha District at the general election through the UNP but later crossed over to the ruling party.

She is very closely working with the Head of the Judiciary and there is no necessity for the judge to issue a warrant. I hope the judge will not get into hot water !!
