CCD wants to arrest more student leaders

It is reported that the Colombo Crimes Division is in a bid to arrest several more student leaders of universities.

The convener of Inter University Students’ Federation Sanjeewa Bandara was arrested on charges of damaging public property at an agitation held by students in Colombo Fort recently and has been released on bail.

Meanwhile, several more student leaders are to be arrested charging they aided and abetted Mr. Sanjeewa Bandara.

Colombo Crimes Division told Colombo Fort Magistrate Kanishka Wijertne that investigations are being carried out to arrest more student leaders. Meanwhile, it is said that more charges have been filed against Mr. Sanjeewa Bandara who has been released on bail.

These are the children of the poor of the poor, who learn take over this country at a time it is bankrupt. Students are the vehicle of addressing the suffering of our nation. They are not slaves to this bureaucratic society. They could protest or revolt. Educated man will protest. Save that option.

This is a time the Judiciary of the country should act with care and foresight and think about the rights of the students and the people and thwart the unethical moves by the CCD and Police who act on the behest of the govt. which is day by day is implementing policies that are not good for the masses of the country but only good for themselves and their cronies. If the Judiciary is unable to foresee these moves then god help our country.
