Sri Lanka win thriller

Tillakaratne Dilshan scored 76 off 53 and took a marvelous catch to bring Sri Lanka victory at the first ‘Super Eight’ matches of the World Twenty-20 played at Pallekele today (27th).

New Zealand won the toss and elected to bat first scoring 174 with Nicol (58) and Guptill (38) being the main contributors. Debutante Dananjaya took 2 wickets for 32 and Kualsekera took 2 for 33.

Sri Lanka scored 174 to tie the scores Dilsan scoring 76 and other contributors were Mahela (44) and Sangakkara (21)

The results had to be decided from a super over and Sri Lanka were able to eliminate New Zealand in the over.

Man of the match was Dilshan.
