Ambassador Steven’s body dragged through streets of Benghazi
The U.S. Navy has sent two destroyers to Libyan waters following the death of the U.S. ambassador in the African country, local media reported a day after Libyan gunmen attacked the U.S. consulate in Benghazi, killing U.S. Ambassador Chris Stevens and other three U.S. nationals.
The USS Laboon and USS McFaul, both Arleigh Burke-class destroyers, have been sent to the waters near the North African country, according to CNN.
The report cited U.S. officials as saying the ships will give President Barack Obama "flexibility," should his administration decide to take action against suspected militants in Libya. The US also dispatched an elite group of Marines to Tripoli yesterday. Other reports cited senior officials as saying the deployment is made as a precautionary measure.
Meanwhile, Obama vowed yesterday (12th) to "bring to justice" the Islamist gunmen responsible for a ferocious assault that killed the U.S. ambassador to Libya and three other Americans.
