The intervention by the government on the judiciary is a hindrance to democracy in the country states the People’s Movement for Democracy in Sri Lanka holding a media conference to apprise the media regarding moves taken by it to protest against the undemocratic moves by the government. The media conference is being held at Public Library Auditorium in Colombo today (4th).
JVP Parliamentarian Vijithe Herath, Attorney Karunaratne Herath, Attorney Krismal Warnasuriya, Attorney Dharmasiri Kumarapeli, Attorney Sunil Watagala, Attorney Chaminda Gunasekera, Dr, Rohan Fernando of the National Intellectuals and Professionals Organization (NIPO), Attorney Sumana Benaragama, President – Women for Rights and renowned artist Chandrasoma Binduhewa are present.
It was announced that a protest march will be held tomorrow (5th) at 3.00 p.m. commencing from Courts Complex at Hulftsdorp (ALUTH KADE) and march to Fort Railway Station. The organizers invite all those who cherish democracy to participate.
