The farmer agitation organized by All Ceylon Farmers’ Federation that was launched from Anuradhapura demanding compensation for farmers whose cultivations have been destroyed due to the drought that prevailed during Maha season continues and another agitation was held at Embilipitiya yesterday (13th).
Farmers demand Rs.50,000 compensation for an acre of paddy lands destroyed due to the drought.
The National Organizer of All Ceylon Farmers’ Federation Namal Karunaratna, its General Secretary T.B. Sarath and a large number of farmers participated.
The farmers warned that they would surround Parliament and President’s House if they do not get a favourable response to their demand.
