When deciding on candidates for future elections the recommendations of the religious leaders should be taken into account states the National Bhikkhu Front (NBF) states.
This was stated by the General Secretary of NBF Ven. Wakamulle Uditha Thero at a media conference held yesterday (15th).
The religious leaders have in a declaration published recently recommended qualities an election candidate should possess. Among them is honesty, steadfastness, being able to sacrifice the whole life for public service, not prejudicial, responsible and accountable, sincere, being able to give leadership to masses, transparent in dealings with them and being able to take practical and reasonable decisions on behalf of them.
As such, the NBF and 28 other organizations have rallied with the candidate the National People’s Power (NPP) will present to the masses on the 18th and the masses have the opportunity to rally with the political programme the NPP would introduce to build and protect the country states NBF.
Ven. Uditha Thero said people should rally with the programme that could build the country instead of going behind various individuals.
He also said the religious leaders who have presented recommendations regarding candidates for elections should expose those candidates who do not qualify for the series of characteristics they have recommended and added failing to do so would make the recommendations they have made a barren sheet of paper.
