Condemning with one accord all sorts of religious and communal extremist moves being carried out at this moment when all religious leaders and intelligent people have resolved to forget the bitter experiences of terrorism and build peace as a peaceful Sri Lanka Nation should be the duty of all citizens says the Speaker Karu Jayasuriya in an announcement.
He states evading this duty at this moment would not prevent adding an unerasable black mark to the history of the country.
In his announcement the Speaker states persons who supports such acts at the moment should be considered as traitors to the country and those behind all such groups are those who are unable to distinguish between right and wrong and those who have become pawns in the hands of those who want to push forward their senseless and cruel agendas.
The Speaker adds that there is no difference between the terrorists who slaughtered hundreds of people including children and those who set the country on fire. He says behind both these groups are local and foreign forces that have not been able to fulfil their sinister agendas but are attempting to get their goals fulfilled by such vile acts. Such persons must be brought before the law and given the severest punishment,” he added.
The Speaker appealed to all Sri Lankans to stand up against such forces who are hell-bent on destroying the future of the country and its people and detest aiding such forces in any manner stating, “No force should be allowed to burn the fires of communal or religious violence in the country and destroy the future of the sons and daughters of this land.”
