The police curfew imposed to cover the whole island was lifted at 6.00 a.m. today.
The decision to impose curfew throughout the island was taken after explosions occurred at eight places in the island including churches and hotels that killed more than 200 and injured over 450 people.
Security was strengthened at all religious places, tourist hotels, hospitals, embassies and important state institutions.
The transport services that had been running at a snail’s pace are getting normal gradually. However, the security process that was initiated deploying the three services and the police is to be continued.
The President who was on a private foreign tour returned to the island yesterday (21st) night. A meeting of the Security Council is to be convened today at 9.00 a.m. headed by the President and the Prime Minister.
