The agreement signed between Singapore and Sri Lanka is a very dangerous agreement as it would not be limited to Singapore but is a trap in which all the concessions given to Singapore would have to be given to all the countries that are members of World Trade Organization says the convener of Voice Against Corruption (VAC) Wasantha Samarasinghe.
Mr Samarasinghe made this observation addressing a seminar organized on the Singapore – Sri Lanka trade pact by the Ambalanthota branch of the National Intellectuals Organization at Ambalanthota.
The seminar was chaired by the District Secretary of National Bhikkhu Front (NBF) Ven. Valiwavage Dhammapala Thero.
Several intellectuals in the area including Mr Dharmadasa Wijesinghe, former Principal of Vijayaba National School at Hungama, Mr Piyal Wijesinghe, the Principal of Daminna MV, Mr Wickrama Mudalige, Director of Agriculture for Hambantota District, Ayurvedic Dr Gamini Gunawrdene, Mr Bandara Dodanwala – Member of the District Executive Committee of Bank Employees’ Union, Mr Gamini Dasanayaka – the Principal of Viharagala MV, Mr Devin Fernando – Entrepreneur were present.
