The Israel – Palestine conflicts are taking a new, grave turn towards disorder and tragedy state foreign information services. Last Monday marked the worst of the clashes that had been occurring in the Gaza strip for over a week.
The Israel – Palestine conflict that began with the creation of Israel in 1948 has killed many thousands and has denied a large number of people their livelihood and abodes. Yesterday (15th) marked 70 years of the conflict and Palestinians call it ‘Nakba’ which means “disaster” or “catastrophe”.
The reason that provoked Palestinians again was the decision of US President to have their embassy in Jerusalem. Earlier the US embassy was in Tel Aviv. With the shifting of US embassy to Jerusalem, it would be easier for Israel to intervene in the administration in Jerusalem. Despite the USA had attempted to show that it was neutral in the issue the latest foolhardy move of President Trump has shattered the myth.
Palestinians say the Eastern Jerusalem is Palestine territory. They believe it would be the capital of future Palestine. Violent clashes along the Gaza border between protesting Palestinians and Israeli security forces due to the US move of shifting its embassy to Jerusalem have left at least 60 Palestinians dead and 2700 injured.
Jerusalem is one of the oldest cities in the world and is considered holy to the three major religions -Judaism, Christianity, and Islam.
