A case has been filed by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption against former Minister of Housing, Construction and Engineering Services Wimal Weerawansa for the possession of assets worth Rs.71 million which could not have been earned through his salaries and other incomes during his tenure as a Minister.

The charge sheet against Wimal Weerawansa released with the signature of Director General of Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption President’s Counsel Sarath Jayamanna states Wimal Weerawansa had earned assets worth Rs.71 million during a six-year period from 2009 to 2014. It also states that Wimal Weerawansa has earned these assets not legally but through bribes.
The Commission has produced two files showing how the assets had been earned.
The biggest talker for the SLPP is the sacked JVPer Wimal . We know what he had before he became a Minister, and now what he is worth after 5 years . 71 Million is not Pea Nuts and what about the Mansion where a young fellow died after a heart attack . One cannot amass such a lot of money with a pay of a Minister. The best punishment is to confiscate the money and send him for a good rest at Walked
