
The official term of the Presidential Commission of Inquiry to Investigate and Inquire into Serious Acts of Fraud, Corruption and Abuse of Power ends today (3rd) says its Secretary H.W. Gunadasa.
He said the President has been requested to extend the term as investigations of several petitions that have been received have to be completed.
The Commission established in 2015 received about 2000 complaints and investigations regarding 401 incidents that fall under serious acts of fraud and corruption have commenced says the Secretary to the Commission. He said the President had extended the term of the Commission twice.
It is reported 17 investigations have been completed and reports have been sent to the President. Reports of 17 more incidents are being prepared at present he added.
According to sources, investigations in connection with the water Board and Srilankan Airlines are to commence immediately.
However, it is not clear what action has been taken regarding the 17 files of investigations that have been completed and sent to the President.
