General Medical Council of Great Britain that sets standards for students and doctors in the UK and protects patients and improve medical education and practice has rejected SAITM (Malabe Private Medical College) as it doesn’t accept the qualifications of ‘graduates from SAITM for the purposes of sitting the PLAB test or applying for registration.
GMC states they do not accept qualifications as they ‘have information that demonstrates the qualification does not meet the acceptability criteria, as ‘there are questions about the acceptability of the qualification’ and also because they have received ‘information about irregularities relating to the programme of study or the awarding of qualifications’.
GMC states not accepting such graduates for their course reflects their primary duty to protect, promote and maintain the health and safety of the public in the UK.
