There is a move to bring a no-confidence motion against Minister of Justice and Buddha Sasana, Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe by a group of Parliamentarians in the government say reports.
17 MPs of the UNP who have come forward to bring in the no-confidence motion against Minister Rajapakshe have met Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe to inform him regarding the move said Parliamentarian Mujibur Rahaman.
He said the group of UNP MPs including him is carrying out a move to bring a no-confidence motion against Minister Rajapakshe due to the Minister’s attempt to hinder legal action against those who were involved in frauds and corruption in the past and for violating the collective responsibility of the cabinet.
At a media conference held to inform cabinet decisions Government’s spokesman Minister Rajitha Senaratna also criticized Minister Rajapaksha for violating collective responsibility of the cabinet.
Deputy Ministers Ajith P. Perera and Harsha de Silva who represent the UNP had stated last week that the Minister of Justice was responsible for the delay of cases in connection with frauds and corruption committed during Rajapaksa regime.
It was the Leader of the JVP and the Chief Whip of the Opposition in Parliament Anura Dissanayaka who, for the first time, revealed that Minister Wijedasa Rajapaksha had dealings with those who had committed large scale frauds and corruption.
