
The members of Uva – Wellassa Front to Protect People’s Rights and its convener of Samantha Vidyarathna are engaged in an awareness programme regarding the attempt by the government to hand over 62,500 acres of lands from Wellassa to Gazelle Ventures multinational company from Singapore on the pretext of cultivating sugar cane.
Continuing the campaign “Stop handing over lands for sugar cane cultivation” the Uva – Wellassa Front to Protect People’s Rights set up its branch at Mahiyangana – Kukulapola area yesterday (14th).
The convener of Uva – Wellassa Front to Protect People’s Rights Samantha Vidyarathna participated and Mr. Alahakone Bandara, a teacher at Kukulapola KV also addressed the participants.
