
The National Trade Union Center (NTUC) would totally support the strike action to be carried out on the 3rd by the Government Medical Officers Association (GMOA) demanding the government to abolish SAITM illegal medical degree awarding boutique says the President of NTUC K.D. Lal Kantha.
He said this at a press conference held on the 30th and participated by a large number of leaders of trade unions representing the state sector as well as the private sector.
Speaking at the press conference Mr. Lal Kantha said NTUC, as the biggest trade union movement in the country, would support the strike action to be launched by the GMOA demanding the abolishment of SAITM degree boutique and added that all trade unions affiliated to NTUC in the medical sector, electricity, petroleum, railways, postal, water supply sectors as well as the private sector would join the strike action.
He said the struggle against SAITM illegal degree boutique could be won only by a struggle that combines all forces and added the trade union movement, the farmer community and students’ movement should unite to get the government on its knees. He said if the government continues to act deaf and dumb regarding the SAITM issue all forces should be prepared to talk to the government in the language it understands.
