Who lies Malik or Rajitha?

January 27, 2017 by NHL Werasinghe 2 Comments

Development Strategies and International Trade Minister Malik Samarawickrama says both the President and the Prime Minister had been informed with regard to the Horana Tyre factory before Prime Minister laid the foundation stone for the factory.
It had been announced that on the direction of President, Maitripala Sirisena, Prime Minister Ranil Wikremesinghe would lay the foundation stone of the mega plant at a stately event held at the BOI Industrial Zone, Wagawatta, Horana on the 5th of January, 2017.
It had been pointed out that the investor for the factory is Nandana Lokuwithanage, the supposed nominal owner of the Marriot Hotel in Dubai, which is allegedly owned by the Rajapaksa family.
The government spokesman Minister Rajitha Senaratna responding to a question at a press conference said that the Prime Minister was unaware of the identity of the investor till the morning of the day on which the work commenced.
However, Minister Malik Samarawickrama rejecting Minister Senaratna’s claim said he had informed the President and the Prime Minister about the project “well in advance”. He states, “Two cabinet papers one proposing the land and then giving details of the incentives and other terms were submitted on this project and in addition the project was discussed and endorsed at several meeting of Cabinet Committee on Economic Management.”
