Fisheries Minister Mahinda Amaraweera has said that President Maithripala Sirisena has instructed SLFP ministers and deputy ministers in the yahapalana government not to be intimidated by the UNP but to stand against their unfair moves.
Minister Amaraweera said President Sirisena discussed the difficulties the SLFP ministers and deputy ministers are confronted with in running the government. The discussion had taken place at Minister Amaraweera’s residence over dinner.
According to Minister Amaraweera the situation in the country was discussed and specially problems created by the UNP for the SLFP members of the government were discussed. He said the atmosphere in which Minister Priyankara Jayarathna had to resign would not be allowed to occur again.
Recently, UNP ministers, stating SLFP ministers were not cooperating with yahapalana programmes of the government said on several occasions for the SLFP ministers to leave the government if they do not tow the line of the government.
