Daisy Forest said to be Yoshitha Rajapaksa’s grand ma who has been accused of illicitly using Rs.3.6 million to buy a house with a land from Ratmalana area has been released by Colombo Additional Magistrate Buddhika Sri Ragala today on a cash bail of Rs. 25,000 and two personal bails of Rs.1.5 million each.
Ms. Daisy Forest had arrived at the FCID only on 31st August but had avoided coming to FCID despite she had been summoned 6 times and the officers of FCID have told Court that she did not cooperate with the investigations. Investigations have been concluded and measures would be taken to send extracts to the attorney General the Court was informed.
Despite police informed Court that statements have to be recorded from her, the Magistrate had asked what was the purpose of recording more statements if investigations have been concluded and extracts had been sent to the Attorney General.
The Magistrate has said the police should correctly state whether Daisy Forest was a witness of a person who had aided and abetted the crime and pointed out there is a suspicion that there is an attempt to conceal the real fraudsters connected with the incident.
When Yoshitha volunteered as one surety it was refused by the Court. Next hearing was put off until 19th May.
