A place at Kaduruwela was raided on Sunday (8th) on information received by All Ceylon Farmers’ Federation that a stock of rice unsuitable for human consumption was stored there
The raid was carried out by Public Health Inspectors, officials of United Rice Producers Association at Polonnaruwa, officials of All Ceylon Farmers’ Federation together with police officers.
4250 kilos of rice unsuitable for human consumption packed in 85 bundles were found states the National Organizer of All Ceylon Farmers’ Federation Namal Karunaratna.
The Public Health Inspectors confirmed that 4250 kilos of rice unsuitable for human consumption was found at a place in Kaduruwela town. They said the stock of rice would be destroyed and legal action would be taken against the businessman who had stocked the rice.
