Indian media has revealed that third round talks on the proposed Indo-Sri Lanka Economic And Technology Cooperation Framework Agreement (ETCA) will be held in Colombo on the 4th and the 5th of this month.
‘Indian Express’ has reported that the talks on ETCA have reached a decisive stage. Despite the government of Sri Lanka intending to sign the agreement yesterday (31st), the opposition to it existing in the country has made the government take a step back report Indian newspapers.
However, ‘Indian Express’ reports that Nirmala Sitharaman, India’s Minister of State for Commerce and Industry, who visited Sri Lanka, had said a time frame was not necessary to sign the agreement but discussions should be continued until both parties come to a satisfied position.
