
The Development (Special Provisions) Draft Bill that was presented to Uva Provincial Council yesterday (22nd) was defeated by 4 votes.
The UNP Members have voted for the Bill while 2 JVP Members and 11 Members of the UPFA voted against it.
Chief Minister Chamara Sampath Dasanayaka has abstained from voting. As such the Bill received 9 votes for it and 13 against it.
The Members of the UPFA in the PC have vehemently opposed the decision of the Chief Minister to abstain from voting say reports.
