
It is revealed that the number of vehicles misused by Parliamentarian Wimal Weerawansa is 58. 7 of these vehicles had been rented out by the Presidential Secretariat and given to Weerawansa’s NFF. It is revealed that Mr. Weerawansa has kept them for his personal use. The investigating team has found out that two files that contained information regarding these vehicles had been ‘misplaced’ in Presidential Secretariat but they were able to get information from a file that had been left.
Rs.15,951,564 has been paid from public funds for the rent of these 7 vehicles and the investigating team has found out that the 7 vehicles had been used by Weerawansa’s close associates. Accordingly, Sarath Weerawansa (KT – 5335), Priyanjith (KO-1375), Nimal Premawansa (PB-0645), Koduthuwakku (PE-6432), Priyantha Bellana (JP-4312), Mohommed Musammil (KO-9480) and Padma Udayashantha (KO-9416) have used the vehicles.
Also, it is revealed that the government has been incurred a loss of Rs. 41 million by misusing 51 vehicles rented out by the Engineering Corporation. 40 of the 51 vehicles had been used by individuals who had had no connection with any institution that came under Weerawansa’s ministries.
A person called Prasanna Sanjeewa Tennekone had been given vehicle KK-8941, A.N.S. Mendis had been given vehicle KP-3768 and Iththakande Sathdatissa Thera had been supplied with 6 vehicles.
Some such vehicles are KP-4802, HO-6514, HN-2194, JS-9725, PD-2563, CAC-3327 and Rs.38,000 and Rs.45,000 had been paid monthly for vehicles given to Saththdatissa Thera.
Several vehicles had been given to members of Weerawansa’s family and the loss the government has incurred due to misuse of vehicles by Weerawansa exceeds Rs.60 million.
This is the ‘patriotic’ snake who has been gobbling up the national resources of the country. He was and still is protected by his keepers.
