He has no intention of becoming the state leader of this country again but would like to work even as a prime minister under President Maithripala Sirisena says retired president, present parliamentarian from Kurunegala District Mahinda Rajapaksa. He has said this at a discussion held with foreign journalists in Sri Lanka yesterday (29th).
At the discussion a journalist had asked the retired president that he could not become the state leader due to the 19th amendment that has limited the term of a president to two but could he do so by amending the constitution. In response to this the retired president has said he has no intention of becoming the state leader again.
When asked whether he could work as prime minister under President Maithripala Sirisena the retired president has said if Mr. Ranil Wickremesinghe could do so, he, who has known Mr. Maithripala Sirisena since 1970 too could work with him.
