Sri Lanka crush Zimbabwe to win Tri-Nation series

Sri Lanka cruised to a seven-wicket win over Zimbabwe with more than 12 overs to spare to win the Tri-Nation Series.

Zimbabwe won the toss and elected to bat first. Zimbabwe’s innings got off to an ominous start when, having won the toss and elected to bat, they lost both openers in the first five overs to find themselves 19-2. They scored 160 runs all out in 36.3 overs.

Victory over the West Indies on Friday saw Zimbabwe progress to the final but they were soundly beaten in Bulawayo, Upul Tharanga hitting an unbeaten 57 for Sri Lanka after the hosts had been bowled out for 160
Sri Lanka lost three early wickets in their reply to give Zimbabwe a glimmer of hope but half-centuries from Tharanga and Kusal Mendis ensured the they got over the line comfortably.
Scores: Sri Lanka 166 for 4 (Tharanga 57*, Mendis 57, Vitori 3-52) beat Zimbabwe 160 (Musakanda 36, Williams 35, Gunaratne 3-10, Vandersay 3-50) by six wickets.
