Colombo Magistrates Court yesterday (25th) fixed the case against UPFA Parliamentarian Wimal Weerawansa’s wife Shashi Weerawansa who is charged of obtaining a diplomatic passport forwarding bogus information to be heard on 8th February, 2017.
The case has been filed by the CID against Shashi Weerawansa fraudulently obtaining two passports – including a diplomatic passport – by submitting forged documents to the Department of Immigration and Emigration.
When the relevant case was heard yesterday the CID requested Magistrate to notice the first and second witnesses in the case to appear in Courts on 8th February. The Magistrate agreeing to the request noticed the witnesses to appear in Court on 8th February.
Shashi Weerawansa was arrested in February 2015 by the CID and is currently on bail.
