Lasantha was murdered by Army Intelligence

The CID informed Mt. Lavinia Magistrate yesterday (24th) that former ‘Sunday Leader’ editor Lasantha Wickremetunga was murdered by the Army intelligence division.

This was stated by CID Inspector Nishantha Silva before Mount Lavinia Chief Magistrate Mohamed Sahabdeen when he presented investigation reports on Army Intelligence Division officer Prem Ananda Udalagama, who has been released after being arrested for abducting Lasantha Wickremetunga’s driver and detaining him.
Earlier, Lasantha Wickremetunga’s driver had identified Prem Ananda Udalagama as the officer who had abducted him..

Interpol warrant on Lanka-e-news editor

Gamapaha Chief Magistrate Ms. Kavindra Nanayakkara ordered the CID today (25th) to inform Interpol and issued an international arrest warrant on ‘Lanka-e-news’ editor Sandaruwan Senadheera.
He has been accused of publishing photographs of the suspect connected with the assault on ‘Rivira’ newspaper when he was due to be presented for an identification parade which is an offence of contempt of court.
The Department of Immigration and Emigration has been ordered to arrest him if he happens to come to Sri Lanka and the CID has been instructed to file a case against ‘Lanka-e-news’ editor Sandaruwan Senadheera.

Accident at construction site in china kills 74

The death toll from the collapse of scaffolding at a construction site in eastern China rose to 74, state media said. It is the country’s worst work-safety accident in over two years. The incident happened at the Fengcheng plant in Jiangxi province yesterday (24th) at around 7 a.m. local time.
The cooling tower was being built in the city of Fengcheng in Jiangxi province when the scaffolding tumbled down, sending iron pipes, steel bars and wooden planks tumbling down on the workers,
About 500 rescue workers, including paramilitary police officers, dug through the debris with their hands, according to state broadcaster CCTV.
Work on the $1.1 billion coal-powered plant is due to be completed in 2018, according to media reports.

800 children murdered in Sri Lank daily

1100 to 1200 child births take place in Sri Lanka daily and the number of estimated abortions that take place in the island is between 700 and 800 says Dr. Nalin Wijesekera, Head of the Non Communicable Diseases unit of Southern Provincial Health Department.
Speaking at a launch of a book held in Galle Dr. Nalin Wijesekera said, “This is a country where children who are about to be born are being destroyed daily. About 1100 to 1200 children are born daily. However, the estimated number destroyed daily is between 700 and 800. This is such a country. Whatever is said abortion is murder. It is also a brutish act. Any child would like to the world.”

Chief Minister too gets Super Luxury vehicle

It is reported that 2017 Toyota Land Cruiser V8, a super luxury vehicle that cost the tax payer Rs. 42 million, has been ordered for the Chief Minister of North Central Provincial Council Peshala Jayaratna Bandara despite there are many issues in the province that have not been solved and people are undergoing various difficulties.
The North Central Provincial Council has reached the final stages of its official term and importing a super luxury vehicle from Japan has been approved by a senior official in the Council. The order for the vehicle has been made a month ago and it is expected to be unloaded in a few weeks time.
Speaking to the media Mr. Peshala Jayaratna Bandara has said the vehicle he uses as the Chief Minister had been imported by former Chief Minister Berty Premalal Dissanayaka and was also used by the Chief Minister elected after him. He says importing the new vehicle does not cost any money to the Provincial Council as the Treasury pays the bill.
Mr. Peshala Jayaratna is an ardent supporter of President Maitahripala Sirisena.
