Sri Lanka wrapped up 2nd Test, win series 2-0 played at Harare in Zimbabwe today (10th).
Stand-in captain Rangana Herath took 8 wickets for 63 runs in the second innings for Sri Lanka to seal a 257-run win over Zimbabwe in Harare in the second Test for a 2-0 series sweep.
Herath finished with 13 wickets in the match after replacing injured skipper Angelo Mathews for this tour.
In the first innings DM de Silva scored 127 and DAS Gunaratna scored 116 to enable Sri Lanka to score 504 runs.
In the Zimbabwe’s 1st innings Herath took 5 wickets, HDK Perera took 3 wickets and Lakmal took 2 wickets to restrict them for a total of 272.
Sri Lanka scored 256 for 9 wickets in their second innings with Karunaratna scoring 88 and MDK Perera scoring 62.
Chasing 491 runs Zimbabwe were able to score only 258 runs as Herath ran through the innings taking 8 wickets for 63 runs. Kumara and DM de Silva took one wicket each.
Player of the match was Herath and the player of the series was Karunaratna.
This was Sri Lanka’s fifth successive Test win – they swept Australia 3-0 at home prior to this series – to equal their second-longest winning streak in Tests. Their longest is nine, which they achieved in 2000-2001.
