As there is no favourable response for the protest being carried out against privatization of the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation, a decision has been taken to get trade unions in the port and Ceylon Electricity Board participated in the struggle states the Collective of Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) Trade Unions.
The convener of the Collective D.J. Rajakaruna states already protests have been held opposite Kolonnawa Center and Sapugaskanda Refinery demanding to withdraw the decision to sell oil tank farm at Trincomalee and privatize Ceylon Petroleum Corporation.
However, the trade unions were not given any discussion by the authorities and as the the Port and the CEB are connected with the CPC it was decided to invite trade unions of the Port and CEB to join the struggle said Mr. Rajakaruna.
He said an agitation will be held opposite the head office of the CPC to protest against the privatization policy of the government.
