Former Minister Wimal Weerawansa’s Private Secretary, Sarath Weerawansa is to be subjected to a medical check-up by the JMO of the Ragama Base Hospital and a report to be submitted to the Court on an order by Fort Magistrate Lanka Jayaratne.
Sarath Weerawansa, brother of former Minister of Mahinda Rajapaksa government, had allegedly used three vehicles provided by the Presidential Secretariat for his private use when he was the Private Secretary to former Minister Wimal Weerawansa, and obtained fuel illegally from two petrol stations in Colombo for the vehicles.
FCID told Court Sarathh Weerawansa was summoned to their office thrice but the suspect avoided being present. FCID stated that Sarath Weerawansa had told them that he had been admitted to the Meegoda Indigenous Hospital when he was first summoned, when he was summoned a second time he had informed them that he had been admitted to the Colombo National Hospital and when he was summoned a third time he had informed them that he had been admitted to the Kiribathgoda Government Hospital.
On an earlier hearing the Magistrate imposed an overseas travel ban on the suspect.
