News is currently published regarding Prof. Ananda Samarasekera, the Judicial Medical Officer who issued a fictitious autopsy report on popular rugby player Wasim Thajudeen’s death to persuade that it was not a murder but a death due to an accident. This resulted in turning investigations in a wrong direction.
What is being revealed now is that Prof. Ananda Samarasekera is the vice-chancellor of SAITM, the controversial degree shop that sells medical degrees.
The Secretary to Ministry of Health, Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine Anura Jayawickrama had informed Colombo Additional Magistrate Nishantha Peiris that following an inquiry done by Health Ministry’s Emergency Raids Unit over the Thajudeen incident it was revealed that former Colombo Chief JMO Ananda Samarasekera had acted in an irresponsible manner when he was conducting the first postmortem on Thajudeen’s body.
The report also states former Colombo Chief Judicial Medical Officer (JMO) Ananda Samarasekara is responsible for several missing bones and other parts of former Rugby player Wasim Thajudeen’s body.
